2013 Toyota Avalon

To me, Toyota has always produced really great cars for even better prices. While taking a look at the 2013 Avalon, I was surprised to learn that its starting price is about $30,990. My enthusiasm immediately took another hit as I saw that it only gets 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. I know, you're probably thinking that's not that bad, but I know Toyota can do better because their other models have better fuel economy. But, there's a cliché that says not to judge a book by its cover...so let's take a look inside, shall we?

There's a pretty cool touch-screen display that lets you control the radio and air conditioning, but I've seen that come standard in less expensive cars. Sure, the Avalon has also got Bluetooth capabilities, iPod connectivity, eight speakers, and hands-free phone book access via the Bluetooth network, but again...less expensive cars have that, too. Okay, the heated leather seats are pretty awesome.

The Avalon seems to have a lot going for it as far as safety features are concerned. It comes equipped with 10 airbags, traction control, anti-locking brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology. Oh, and the seats are also custom-designed to lessen whiplash injuries in the event that an accident is unavoidable. There are a few other safety features listed here http://www.toyota.com/avalon/features.html#!/safety/3544 if you'd like to take a look.

All in all, I would say that the Avalon seems pretty safe, but I'm not seeing anything major that sets it apart from all of the other, more affordable cars out there.
